10 Ideas Blog

The 10 Ideas Blog was inspired by the words of James Altucher in his National Best Seller, Choose YourselfEach week, we sit down and challenge our brain to come up with ten ideas for new inventions.  This is a great exercise for anyone to participate in, and sometimes we come up with really great concepts (and sometimes, they’re a little crazy!) Our father, Ben Greenfield wrote an article about why this is such a good idea, and you can read that article here.

Like many people right now, we’ve been thinking a lot about the vehicles that we use to get around and how we impact the planet.  We think that with some innovation, we can come up with better ways to travel, things that can help reduce the need to travel, and other ideas that will help reduce our impact on the environment.

Terran on Vehicles & the Planet

I, Terran, was really focused more on the environment and what we can do to help the Earth.  I was thinking an automatic farm machine would be amazing.  It could be brought in to help prepare the ground, plant the seeds, water them, pick the weeds, and more.  It could turn a regular backyard into the start of a self-sustaining property very quickly.  I also think a plastic-eating-fish-bot (which I learned that is REAL!) would be a great tool for removing plastic from the oceans, and edible paper would make it possible to store foods and other products without plastic.

River on Vehicles & the Planet

I, River, was thinking about cars, boats, and other vehicles. Two of the ideas that I think could be used to make transportation easier and could help reduce pollution are the inflatable car and the food constructor.  A lot of people buy plastic-wrapped food and fast food because they want something quick and easy.  They don’t have time to make meals.  The food constructor would process the ingredients, combine them, cook them, and put out a meal quickly and easily.  People would be eating better food and producing less waste.  My idea for an inflatable car is a solar-powered, blow-up vehicle that could be deflated when not being used.  It would take up very little space, so we wouldn’t have to have so many parking lots, and it would require little or no fuel.
