10 Ideas Blog
The 10 Ideas Blog was inspired by the words of James Altucher in his National Best Seller, Choose Yourself. Each week, we sit down and challenge our brain to come up with ten ideas for new inventions. This is a great exercise for anyone to participate in, and sometimes we come up with really great concepts (and sometimes, they’re a little crazy!) Our father, Ben Greenfield wrote an article about why this is such a good idea, and you can read that article here.
In this installment of 10 Ideas, we were definitely intrigued with animals, as usual, but also thinking about how we could make work more fun. We both participate in unschooling, which means that we have a lot of say in what we learn, how we learn, and when we learn. While it is a lot of fun, it also requires a lot of work. If we are going to be so busy, we might as well make it as entertaining and comfortable as possible!
Terran on Work
I, Terran, love art class, creative writing, Lego building and all things that all me to be creative. When I think about making school work more fun, I think about ways that art class could be better. I decided an adjustable canvas would be cool. It could change shapes and sizes depending on what you are drawing or painting. That way, you could have the exact right shape and size every time without having to build a canvas frame or buy a new one.
River on Technology
I, River, like to be always moving. I think desks and chairs that allow you to move are the best. We already have wobble stools and sit-stand desks, but I think it would be better if the chair and desk moved together. They could automatically spin and change direction, so it was like a sort of amusement park ride. You could also move it manually with your foot or by pushing a button.
