10 Ideas Blog

The 10 Ideas Blog was inspired by the words of James Altucher in his National Best Seller, Choose YourselfEach week, we sit down and challenge our brain to come up with ten ideas for new inventions.  This is a great exercise for anyone to participate in, and sometimes we come up with really great concepts (and sometimes, they’re a little crazy!) Our father, Ben Greenfield wrote an article about why this is such a good idea, and you can read that article here.

In this installment of 10 ideas, we were inspired by the outdoors and the world around us. We have some cool ideas that could help improve our daily lives from the moment we wake up until the sun sets and its time to get some rest again. Staying active is important to us, so we got to thinking about ways being outside could be more enjoyable!

Terran on Enjoying the Outdoors

I had two ideas that could help us stay active outdoors and efficient at the same time. The first would be to have a tennis ball that could also be used as a baseball. Since a tennis ball is light and needs to bounce, you would be able to take a weighted insert out for tennis and put it back in for baseball. All you have to do is unzip the small zipper, pull the insert out or put it back in. My second idea is to have a bike that has a back rest. Bike rides could be much longer and enjoyable with a more comfortable feature.

River on Enjoying the Outdoors

I had two ideas that would make a trip to the beach much better. I thought it would be a great idea if there was a test that tells you when to reapply your sunscreen so you don’t get burned. It would also alarm you when you are sunburned so you could get some shade or go indoors. If you wanted to star gaze at night, I thought it would be awesome to have a video recorder that counted and recorded shooting stars. So once the alarm that is triggered by the sunrise goes off, you could check the footage from the night before and see which night had the most.
