10 Ideas Blog

The 10 Ideas Blog was inspired by the words of James Altucher in his National Best Seller, Choose YourselfEach week, we sit down and challenge our brain to come up with ten ideas for new inventions.  This is a great exercise for anyone to participate in, and sometimes we come up with really great concepts (and sometimes, they’re a little crazy!) Our father, Ben Greenfield wrote an article about why this is such a good idea, and you can read that article here.
In this installment of 10 Ideas, we took our notebooks outdoors to record our thoughts.  At our side, as usual, were our dogs.  We took a walk through the woods, and were reminded, again, to check ourselves and the dogs for ticks.  It made perfect sense that dogs and ticks were on our mind when we recorded our ten ideas for the week.

Terran on Dogs & Ticks

I, Terran, don’t really like checking the dogs for ticks.  I feel like it’s too easy to miss them because they are so small.  It would be so much easier if there was a special brush that would catch the ticks.  I was also wondering, as I was petting the dog, if it would be possible to develop a small alarm that would go off to let you know that a dog was about to drool on you.

River on Dogs & Ticks

I, River, liked Terran’s idea of a tick brush, but was thinking it would be even better to have a wand, or something like that, to run over yourself or a dog to detect ticks.  That way, there would never be a question about whether or not you missed finding one.  Even tick-free, our dogs are often dirty or wet when they come inside.  I thought of a second invention that could be installed in couches and chairs that would deter dogs, until they were clean and dry.
