10 Ideas Blog
The 10 Ideas Blog was inspired by the words of James Altucher in his National Best Seller, Choose Yourself. Each week, we sit down and challenge our brain to come up with ten ideas for new inventions. This is a great exercise for anyone to participate in, and sometimes we come up with really great concepts (and sometimes, they’re a little crazy!) Our father, Ben Greenfield wrote an article about why this is such a good idea, and you can read that article here.
At the beginning of the month, we were definitely feeling inspired by smart technology. We don’t spend much time watching videos or playing video games, and we never watch actual TV, but we do like technology for other things.
I, Terran, was really thinking about lights and sounds, and how they can make our lives better. Alarm clocks are something that most people need, but it would be awesome if they adjusted based on how the person was sleeping. Imagine if the sounds changed based on your vital signs, so it woke you without startling you. Then, the lights in the room could also adjust, automatically, depending on the amount of sunlight in the room, so you don’t waste electricity. They could also change color, based on the music that was being played in the space.
I, River, wanted something that could be used outdoors – specialized binoculars! I think it would be great to have field glasses that automatically gave details about the bird that you were looking at. A sort of screen would pop up, so it didn’t interfere with the bid, but told its name and some other interesting facts, like where it can be found, whether or not its endangered, where it likes to nest, and more.
