In this episode of GoGreenfields, River and Terran head out into their backyard for a little foraging fun. Plant foraging is a great activity for people of all ages, and there are many wild-growing plants throughout this country that can be safely consumed. In many cases, the foods foraged are extremely beneficial for one’s health, too.
What is Plant Foraging?
Basically, plant foraging is searching widely for food or provisions in the environment around you. It’s still cold where we are, so it’s not the best time of year, but soon it will be spring. Then, and in the summer in the northern hemisphere, plants will be abundant. It’s a great idea to start learning about the plants that grow in your area, so you can keep an eye out for them on your next hike. Be sure that you know what you are picking before you forage. Not all plants are friendly.
