Pizza Tossing: Did you Know?
Although many think that it is just the visual appeal of watching pizza tossing prior to biting into that perfect sauce covered creation, there is a skill to and reason for the act. Over time, a pizza maker can perfect the art of pizza throwing, which results in consistency of shape and texture. Pizza tossing uses centrifugal and gravitational forces to create a thinner, circular dough. It also helps form the crust of the pizza, as the middle of the thrown pizza will naturally be thinner than the outer edges.
You can overthrow or underthrow a pizza. You can also drop it – A LOT! No one perfects the act the first time. It is a learned skill that comes with a lot of practice. We, of course, show that we are masters in this episode (HA!)
