An art project to push your creativity

In this episode of GoGreenfields, River and Terran once again get creative! They have each chosen a character; you may recognize them, and they are going to draw them in four different styles on one piece of paper!

How it’s done

We began by choosing our characters and doing simple line drawings in pencil to give us something to work with. Terran chose the one and only Popeye the sailor, and River picked Toothless the night fury dragon. After we had our basic drawings, we split them into four even parts; each part meant to be a different style, and got to work!

Characters and materials

We decided to work with watercolor paper this time, but our other materials were varied. We largely worked with Posca paint pens and markers (available at gogreenfields.com/amazon), but we also used regular pencils, colored pencils, Sharpies, and a wide variety of other markers and materials, whatever works best!

Styles and results

After some time spent working hard and focusing on our task, it was time to show the results. Each character sheet was split into four even parts and each part featured a particular style. We used the same styles on each character; the upper left was realism, the upper right was anime, the lower left was X-ray, and the lower right was inverted. It was interesting to compare how our approaches to each style were different but in other ways, very similar!
